Mavamatics - First Sunday of the month 8-10pm
Mavamatics first discovered drum & bass in the late 90s and early 2000s after hearing tracks like LTJ Bukem's Atlantis and Roni Size/Reprazent's Brown Paper Bag on skate video soundtracks. He didn't know anything about the genre because at the time he was more into trance, hip hop and rock music.
It wasn't until 2005 when he heard tracks by artists like Calyx & Teebee, Noisia, Omni trio on a game soundtrack that he started to take notice once again. He started delving a bit more and discovered artists like Nu:tone, High Contrast, Logistics, Marcus Intalex, Chase & Status and even Pendulum as they went mainstream.
After getting into drum & bass alongside dBrief - who moved on into production - he decided to try his hand at making tunes himself. He was introduced to the likes of Hardline along the way and started to gain knowledge, delving into the deeper, darker side of the drum & bass spectrum. This led to a release on Surface Audio - the first of many to come as he refines his sound.
Along the way he met DJ Ed G
and the two hit it off straight away as their love of the music and their taste in tunes goes hand in hand. Ed comes from an old skool, 90s background and Mavamatics' influences span a period from the 90s to the present day. With their shared interests and love of the music they decided to create a duo called Liquid Movement
which would incorporate the soulful side of drum & bass alongside the dark, techy rollers.
You can catch Liquid Movement on www.afterdarkradio.org - 8pm till 10pm every Thursday night.
